New work @ the Port A Art Center… come and see!

It is Done. It Begins.
Since graduating this December, I have had great good fortune.
I am a Texas Licensed Paramedic.
San Marcos Hays County EMS has decided to let me help out. Yay!
In the meantime, before my new job starts Monday after next, I have painted in joy and with great enthusiasm.
Below are new original oil paintings ‘Rising Together,’ 12″x16″, and ‘Anticipation’ 12″x36″.
Love to you all,
King of the Hill!
Daydreams of ease and comfort. The pelican finds a place to survey his kingdom. A full belly and a cool breeze, a place in the sun. Peace and contentment are palpable here for this king of the hill reigns supreme. Be your own king or queen. Own your hill or boulder, even if just for this one moment. The world can be beautiful.
Showing the Ropes- Gratitude for teachers
Thanks to everyone who has shown me the ropes through the years. There have been so many of you, and so many ropes, too!
I have completed my Associate of Applied Science in Paramedicine. It has been a two year journey of education and experience with some of the most wonderful people. My teachers, clinical preceptors, and laboratory organizers have kicked my butt into shape. The paramedics on ambulances who had my back as they let me treat their patients had such grace and kindness as I tried to understand better how to do my job and take care of people.
I have been enjoying working for Emergency Medical Protection Services- a first responder organization- and First Medical Response- a private EMS provider. Now I hope for a place with 911. It would be a privilege. I hope I have listened and learned enough for them to let me start to learn some more… a lifetime’s journey awaits.
Happy Heron
Joyful, joyful, to be alive at the beach! Make every day count.
Gone Fishin’
Paint a Man a Fish
Imagine your walls with these swimmy fishes decorating them. Luxe. Gorgeous. Fun.
The painting demonstrates traditional oil painting technique. The ‘grisaille and glaze’ method has been used since oil painting was first made. Fish 1 is the sketch, Fish 2 is the grisaille, and Fish 3 has the glaze applied. All in all, a pretty result with ancient historic roots.
Tie into history! Great American Art is here for the catching.
Another fun painting demo tomorrow 10-12. Join the Austin Palette Club as a guest for free!
Tomorrow morning I’ll be painting for the folks of the Austin Palette Club. They meet on Tuesdays from 10 AM -Noon at the Lamar Senior Activity Center. The center is at 2874 Shoal Crest Avenue, Austin, TX 78705, just up the hill one block east of Lamar. Check out the plug for my demo below from the president of the APC, it’s pretty glowing. I’m absolutely tickled pink! Come meet some nice people who love art and watch me do my song and dance.
See you there with my smock on,
Arnica
AUSTIN PALETTE CLUB MEETING NOTICE : Tuesday, February 11, 2020, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Dear APC Members; I know you all love the painting demos best of all and this week, we are going to be treated to an oil painting demo by one of our newest members, ARNICA GRACE !
Arnica is a professional artist and currently she’s an instructor at Cordovan Arts in Round Rock and Austin. Arnica is an Honors Graduate College of Fine Arts from UT Austin in 2001, and she has an extensive list of exhibits and shows to her credit. Check out the list on her “About” page on her website for more information. Arnica is full of joyful energy and enthusiasm for her art and it’s infectious. In her own words:
“In 2020 I have the honor of leading other painters to find joy in their various media. I teach in Round Rock and Austin, TX at Cordovan Arts. Also, the workshops I get to host at The Round Rock Downtowner Gallery have been a lot of fun! I hope to continue to meet many more new and wonderful artists through my teaching programs.Working in many media keeps me on my toes. I love making images by hand. It’s a craft that keeps me learning. Weekly painting sessions with other artists are always fun, and I have had the privilege of painting the model from life with others for many many years. People are fascinating, landscapes are lovely. Oil paints are great, acrylics are quick. Watercolor was my focus in college, having gotten to study with Bill Wyman, noteworthy Texas Artist and professor at UT (not the Rolling Stones bass player.)”Here’s a link to her website : www.arnicagrace.com I know you will enjoy looking at the wonderful artwork on Arnica’s website. She “pushes” color expertly and her brush strokes are painted in a controlled loose style that infuses energy and action in her paintings. Come learn how she makes magic on canvas this week! The Water Is Fine III
My Friend, My Foe, The Sea
Got to wonder what this pelican is thinking. Sunshine for nothing and fish for free?
The Texas Coast is beautiful and rich in its wildlife. Imagine warm breezes blowing across your skin. The gentle waves roll over your toes. Keep that feeling. Return to it again and again.
